Normally I would pull the backplane off the CRT…
Like I did for this imac...
But since my 1Ghz G4 emac STARTED SMOKING!!!!
I decided NOT to go through the extra hassle.
A failed flyback transformer can leave stray capacitance all over the board!

…..NOT TODAY"
Just make sure you strip all the valuable parts like the start button and audio plugs, etc…
shoot as many of the pinouts as you need, (video & such).

This was actually a really simple build.
The first imac I rebuilt for my wife was a nasty hairball, so i was pleasantly surprised to be finished so early.
I actually used this ATX to power both this emac and the second imac.
(which I'm writing this blog with) ;@

this is like the 15th feakin one-off cable I've made.
Starting way back having to convert mac vid-2-pc on the old G3 towers!
For some bazaar reason I actually LIKE making them…
It's a very methodical zen meditation.
Kind of like fixing a child's bike or doing the dishes without anyone knowing…
just sort of makes the whole world happy.
